Taneatua Domain will host a WBOPCA Reserve Grade match on Saturday when Whakatane United host a Lake Taupo XI, in round two of the First Round competition.

Last weekend both teams posted maximum points in the title race, with Taupo accounting for Sikh Sports and Whakatane United getting home from Cadets.

Aquinas College have a tough ask this weekend, in their first competition match after their game against Tauranga Boys' College wasn't played. The Aquinas students face Mount Maunganui who lost by a solitary run against Greerton in round one.

Two teams who won a piece of cricket silverware last season will square off at Pemberton Park. Defending Reserve First Round title holders Greerton could be tested by the R&A Sangha team, who won the Baywide McNaughton Trophy last season.

Recent local reserve heavyweights Katikati were another not to get on to the field of play last Saturday. They will be at home at the Uretara Domain in Katikati to Sikh Sports.

Tauranga Boys' second XI play Rotorua visitors Geyser City at Waipuna Park with Te Puke verses Cadets at the Gordon Spratt Reserve in Papamoa.

The Tauranga Boys' College third XI made a successful debut in the Western Bay Reserve competition after previously playing secondary school grade cricket. They posted 253/5 against Albion and then bowled them out for 60 to claim a big win.

However, they face a big challenge on Saturday when they meet long time B-Grade contenders Grasshoppers at Gordon Spratt one. The Hoppers have been around since the 1980s and have become the benchmark team of the Western Bay second echelon competition over the years.

Te Puke region Singh XI were one of the hot performers of the 2015/16 season, winning the B-Grade championship. They square off with Mount Maunganui at the Gordon Spratt Reserve. Albion and Wanderers, who both call Fergusson Park home, will face off for early season bragging rights.
