As technology evolves faster than ever, Rotorua Library is stepping up to ensure no one in the community is left behind.

In partnership with Digi-Coaches, the library is launching 12 weeks of free, drop-in digital support, giving Rotorua residents personalised help with everyday digital challenges.

Starting this week, a Digi-Coach will be available Monday to Friday, 10am–2pm, at Rotorua Library, Te Aka Mauri, to provide one-on-one guidance with smartphones, tablets, apps, emails, online services, artificial intelligence tools, and other digital essentials. No appointment is required; locals can drop in for support.

Residents can also book a virtual reality session and explore different work experiences using immersive VR technology - an opportunity to try something new or spark ideas for career pathways.

Rotorua Library manager Julianne Wilkinson said the need for digital support in the community is greater than ever.

“There’s a huge demand for digital support in our community and we are increasingly seeing more people requesting and using our e-resources. It was a perfect fit for the library to be involved in this initiative and having dedicated coaches means we can help so many more people.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the Digi-Coaches into the library and offer a service that will truly make a difference in people’s everyday lives.”The initiative is part of a work experience programme for jobseekers, supported by the Ministry of Social Development and delivered by the Digital Inclusion Alliance Aotearoa with local libraries and community groups."

By joining the programme, Digi-Coaches gain valuable experience while helping strengthen digital capability across Rotorua.
