Following a big win in the Chatham Cup, Rotorua United are looking to keep their perfect season alive when they travel to Tauranga this weekend.

United were relegated from the Waibop Federation One competition last season but have re-built well this year, as they look to earn promotion back into the top grade.

They have won their opening three competition matches and won their first Chatham Cup game on Monday 4-1 against Matamata.

"I think we are playing some nice football. Everyone is really on board with what we are trying to do," United coach Rich Barter said. "We are just trying to play good football that people want to come and watch."

Barter said they created about 20 chances against Papamoa on Saturday and 15 chances against Matamata on Monday.

Tomorrow they face off against Tauranga Old Blues in round four of the Waibop Federation Two competition.

"It's hard to say [what Old Blues will be like] as they have only played one game. But we will go into it as if they are the best team in the league."

Ngongotaha AFC have started well this season in the Waibop Federation One competition, recording two wins and a draw.

They will also travel to Tauranga tomorrow to face Tauranga Boys' College.

A win could see Ngongotaha leap to the top of the tough competition.
