Ngongotaha AFC's Mitchell Miller showed deadly form in front of goal for his side on the weekend.

Ngongotaha AFC's in-form striker Mitchell Miller just can't stop scoring for his team this season as he slotted home an impressive five goals on the weekend.

The top-of-the-table side beat Old Blues Prem 8-0 away on Saturday - with Miller completing a first-half hat-trick as his side went in 4-0 up by half-time. The striker then grabbed another two goals in the last quarter of the game, helping his side to their 10th win.

Miller, who has now scored 26 goals for his club this season, said he received excellent service up front and was most pleased with his fourth strike - which was an excellent "team goal".

"The pitch was very difficult underfoot, but we still played the stylish attacking game we have all season and so many opportunities were created for me," he said.

"I guess I was in the right place at the right time and I'm feeling really match fit and eager at the moment.

"My fourth goal really showed what this team is all about this year. We dominated possession for a long period and I was able to tuck away after a lovely team move."

Ngongotaha took the lead in the sixth minute thanks to a Josh O'Sullivan strike in the box.

The away side were then 3-0 up after 33 minutes thanks to two Miller strikes in five minutes.

And Miller calmly finished his hat trick five minutes later, neatly tucking away a shot with his left foot after Old Blues failed to clear their lines.

After the break captain Dave Haua extended his side's lead in the 55th minute of the game.

Miller then grabbed two more goals in the space of five minutes, with his fourth of the match being the most impressive - the potent striker latching on to a wonderfully chipped through ball from midfield in the 75th minute of the game.

To add insult to injury Old Blues then scored an own goal six minutes from time to seal a crushing defeat.

The result sees Ngongotaha remain at the top of the WaiBOP Premiership on 31 points - with a three point gap between themselves and second-placed Matamata Swifts with a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Rotorua United drew 2-2 against Katikati FC Ambria with United goals from Ash Gower-Rudman and Ian Wilton not being enough to grab all three points.
