The Taupo District Court.

A Turangi man charged with murdering his 9-month-old baby girl appeared in court today.

Donovan Michael Duff, 40, who is in prison, appeared by video link in the Taupo District Court charged with the murder of Maija Puhi-Duff on March 12, 2016.

No application for name suppression was made.

Judge Greg Hollister-Jones remanded Duff in custody. He is due to reappear by video link in the Rotorua High Court on Wednesday, June 7 at 9am.

The judge declined a media application to take a photo in court, saying that although there was high public interest in the case, Duff did not yet have legal representation.
