Oh my Lorde - look who turned up in Turangi.

She may have just had a Brit Award nomination to go along with her Grammy nominations, but Kiwi singing sensation Lorde was more than happy to pose with fans in Turangi this weekend.

The singer's visit to Turangi has been the talk of the town with plenty of locals lining up to get photos taken with her.

Twenty-year-old Naquita Clark said she and a friend couldn't believe it when they spotted Lorde out for dinner in the township.

"She was nice and more than happy to take photos with everyone."

Miss Clark said she didn't talk to Lorde too much as she just wanted to let the star get on her way.

"It's pretty much the talk of the town."

It's understood Lorde, whose real name is Ella Yelich-O'Connor, has family in the area including grandparents and an aunty who she has been visiting.

She's also been hanging out at popular local swimming spot Bully Point, between Turangi and Taupo.

Lorde visited Turangi before her appearance at the 56th Grammys.
