Families will have the opportunity to get crafty together and check out what the Rotorua Children's Art House is all about at its upcoming Open Day.

The Open Day is free and being held on Saturday, October 7 from 10am to 1pm.

Rotorua Children's Art House co-ordinator Maria Marshall says they will have crafts out and the children can make and paint their own tulips.

Parents can join in with the craft activities and have a look around the Art House, she says.

Maria says she is looking forward to interacting with the families who come along.

"It's always lovely to meet new families and new kids."

She says there will be no limit to the number of people who can attend, with families able to just rock in.

"I think at the end of a very nasty winter the Tulip Festival is actually something quite lovely.

"It's a nice promise that summer is going to be better than winter."

She encourages people to come along and let children get involved in art.

"If people are wondering what the Art House is, this is a great opportunity to come in and see how it works and what is here."
