We asked on Facebook the best way to meet other parents if you're new to town. Here are some of the responses.

That is such a good question. I know people who have been here for a year or so now and they still dont know anyone other then the people they have met thru me.

definitely check out your local 'Playcentre' there's 12 all around Rotorua so it's easy to get to one if you live rural too. so much fun and perfect for parents and their children to make new friendships.

I went to the gym, meet a couple of parents at the school my baby attended ... and have met many lovely parents.

I met a few thru my childrens school, but due to having a sickly child, i have met majority thru the childrens ward at Rotorua hospital. Theres a few mums bub clubs on facebook too, and theyre always organising playdate meet n greets in most areas.

I met some nice people at Rotorua Parents Centre when we first arrived here. Playgroup at Eastern Suburbs Pre-School and Mainly Music too. Now my eldest is at school, I am starting to make friends there as well. It takes time though to make good friends.

Keen to know for when we move back in October with our 3mth old.

Parenting central website lists all events relevant they have all contact details for all that is on its a fantastic site. It lists days times and child events in a graph so you can find groups in your area on days that suit your interests and childrens age. Best parents page i have ever come across.
