The property market is constantly changing - and one Bay of Plenty company has announced a reorganisation of its executive team to help position it for the future. Property and business reporter Zoe Hunter looks at the changes at Realty Services, which runs Eves and Bayleys.

One of the longest-standing real estate companies in the Bay of Plenty has announced changes to its executive leadership.

The board of Realty Services Limited - which operates Eves and Bayleys across the Bay of Plenty, Waikato and Taranaki - has appointed a new managing director, chief executive officer and a senior group financial controller.

The new appointments bring more than 35 years of real estate experience into the leadership team and will help lead the company into the future.

Simon Anderson has been appointed managing director and will be responsible for the company's strategic growth and diversification.

Heath Young has been promoted to chief executive officer and will be responsible for delivering the company's strategic and operational plans.

Realty Services Limited also welcomes back Mary Derksen, who has been appointed the new senior group financial controller and will be responsible for all financial aspects of the business.

Simon Anderson, who is the current chief executive and who will lead the new-look team, said the company had come through 50 years of growth and change in the property market.

In five decades, the company has grown from one office on Cameron Rd to 500 staff, in 24 offices across four regions - Bay of Plenty, Waikato, Taranaki and Whangarei.

"This is not a one-year plan. It is strategic positioning of the company to reflect the way we see the market and the regions we work in and the positive opportunities we see here, for the next 50 years," he said.

"We are looking ahead and are positioning the company for the future."

Anderson, who had been in the industry for nearly 20 years, said the company was always adapting to the constant change in real estate.

Heath Young said he was passionate about ensuring the company continued to deliver high levels of service to its customers.

"My strong financial and operational background along with core skill-sets centred on continuous improvement, change management, and a forward-looking approach are strongly aligned to the company's strategies to take this business forward," he said.

"I feel very privileged to be given this opportunity to guide this well-respected company into 2020 and beyond, a company that is steeped in 50 years of history made up of outstanding people, culture and values."

"I will also continue to further develop all relationships with our external stakeholders," she said.

A chartered accountant with six years' experience including three with Realty Services, Derksen said she understood the importance of maximising growth to ensure the business was reaching its full potential.

"I am excited to see the influence this change will have on the future of our people and am very much looking forward to this opportunity."

The new appointments will come into effect on December 2.
