Construction is under way to re-align the entrance to Rotorua Central at the Amohia St and Amohau St intersection.
Pukeroa Oruawhata Trust client manager Peter Faulkner of Hulton Patchell said the re-alignment involved straightening the road to improve traffic flow from the intersection, and prevent build-up of traffic across AmohiaSt.
The road was being re-aligned 30 metres to the west to move it closer to retailers Harvey Norman, Number One Shoes and Noel Leeming.
Parking for customers at Westpac and ANZ banks would also be improved.
"The road is being straightened as a requirement under the council resource consent planning conditions," Mr Faulkner said.
