People can enjoy a day in the country and relive memories from times gone by at the Rotorua Tractor and Machinery Club Annual Working Day.

It is on Sunday, 10am to 3pm, on a farm at the corner of Oturoa Rd and State Highway 5.

Rotorua Tractor and Machinery Club secretary David Chatterton said the day gave collectors a chance to show off machines they had restored, and use them as they were designed to be used - be it mowing, hay making or cultivation.

It will feature working displays of farming machinery from 100 years ago up to the present day.

He said the day was an interesting opportunity to see how farming had changed. "Some of the processes are the same but the way they are done is quite different."

Chatterton said people came along from outside of Rotorua, and that the annual working day had great support from people in Tauranga and Hamilton.

He said new members were always welcome. If there was a piece of history hidden away in your shed, go and see how it could be brought back to life.

Chatterton said this event had developed into a significant supporter of the Mamaku community, with the catering being shared by Mamaku School and the local volunteer fire brigade which would arrange fire safety displays if the weather permitted.

Children enter free and general admission is $10 for those over 12 years. The event will go ahead rain or shine.
