Living in Paradise it's often too easy to forget our natural wonders. When's the last time you visited one of our major tourist attractions?
We don't want to be seen as a city that's turned its back on one of its biggest assets. Look at Tauranga, which shunned its harbourfront for so long, even putting a railway line between the CBD and the water.
I'm not suggesting a massive retail development, or anything that would reduce greatly the green space and children's play area.
But we do have to ask ourselves if the area is being fully used to its potential. Mr Bowler was careful not to suggest Rotorua copy Queenstown, but if they're doing something that works well regarding lakeside activity, why shouldn't we copy?
Eat Streat is a brilliant first step. Its festive atmosphere and proximity to the lake are a winning combination.
But the possibilities from here are endless and exciting.
