Despite what the weather is doing, there's one thing you can always count on in January - people trying to stick to their New Year's resolution to lose weight.

There's always a sudden influx of walkers around the streets, fewer parks in the Redwoods and a longer wait for the treadmill at the gym.

It's also a time when those pushing their different weight-loss methods come to the fore.

This time last year, we heard all about the wonders of the lemon detox diet. It was simple. All you had to do was not eat any actual food and instead drink a lemony thing that was supposed to fill you up.

At the weekend we have heard about the latest dieting technique - the baby food diet.

Apparently the lean Jennifer Aniston has been linked to the craze, which sees people consuming jars of baby food.

It's meant to be simple as you are easily able to control your calorie intake by just sticking to one jar.

There doesn't seem to be any mention of the fact that you'll be starving.

Nutritionists are already jumping on board, warning people that it's not healthy to just eat baby food and if you keep it up, you will get sick.



The Daily Post has helped those facing the January battle of the bulge by publishing a feature last week that details 30 ways to lose weight. Yes, apparently there are 30 ways.

We live in an outdoor playground that's awash with different things you can do to get fit and healthy.

So there's no excuse, right?

Let's see what happens in February.
