In our teens we were always smartly dressed, our school uniforms spotless and our cuts and scrapes tended with only the care a mother can give.
Since then there's been weddings, grandkids and broken relationships.
But no matter what happens, mum's always there. Never judgmental, always supportive.
Now for a confession.
I currently live in a small flat and it has no washing machine so I have to pop up to mum and dad's to wash my clothes.
For the first few weeks I was very helpful. Clothes into the machine, powder in, wash, and out on the line.
A day or two later and magically there they were, ironed and folded. The little holes in my favourite socks darned and the ink stains had vanished from my shirts.
Recently, this has turned into -- clothes into the machine, powder in, wash on.
Still, magically, a day or two later my clothes are washed and ironed ready to be picked up.
This is also why my dad looks so smart.
There's also a million little things you don't think of that mums do to make your life all the more easy.
Whether you are 2 or 42, your mum will always be your mum. So thanks mums, for all the hard work that goes unpaid, you deserve all the love and respect you get. And more.
