The Rotorua Daily Post has been behind the Raising the Bar campaign since it started and from this Saturday we are taking that support one step further.
Raising the Bar is the name given to a group of business leaders who have tasked themselves with lifting the service standards andperceptions of Rotorua.
The group is doing great things. Most recently it contracted celebrity chef Ray McVinnie to write a report on the hospitality culture in Rotorua.
One of the suggestions in his report was for the local newspaper to publish regular constructive restaurant reviews and articles about the hospitality sector.
Mr McVinnie must have read our minds. We have been planning a revamp of our Saturday lifestyle section for several weeks now and part of it includes a new foodie page that will include local restaurant reviews and a local beer column. The page will also have a new section called "That's Great Service".
This section is an opportunity each week for locals to tell us where in Rotorua they have had outstanding service that deserves a mention.
It can be anything from an assistant at a shoe shop going the extra mile, or exceptional service at a local cafe. We want to know who and where it was to provide an added boost to our local service providers.
If you have a great service story, feel free to let us know by emailing the details to news@dailypost.co.nz with That's Great Service in the subject line.
