Six noise complaints from residents of Rotorua's eastern suburbs were received last night.

The Rotorua Lakes Council received six noise complaints related to the eastside industrial area overnight.

They came from Blackmore Dr, Burton Pl, Larcy Rd, Lewis Rd, Tarawera Rd and Vaughan Rd.

The first complaint came in at 11.06pm and the last at 7.48am.

But, production at the Lumbercube mill had stopped for maintenance when council staff were monitoring noise in the area. The log yard was operating, but at a lower activity level.

The council recently identified at least four other sites in the area contributing to noise issues.

According to the Eastside Residents Action Group Facebook page, Rotorua mayor Steve Chadwick has agreed to hold a public meeting for all those concerned on Wednesday April 27, time and date to be advised.

To make a noise complaint call the council's dedicated line on (0800) 020 001, or email info@rotorualc.nz.
