The Rotorua community is encouraged to dress up in yellow tomorrow morning and hikoi for hope.
The march is taking place in the city to raise awareness about suicide prevention.
"We are aiming to create awareness in our community around suicide and ways to prevent it from happening. Our hikoiis targeted at whanau of all ages, but in particular our at risk youth in our community," said Neihana Mackey, member of Te Runanga o Ngati Pikiao Suicide Prevention Team.
He said speakers were coming from a variety of Rotorua organisations including Te Pae Akurangi Fitzel from Te Runanga o Ngati Pikiao, Derryn Hyde from Linkage, James Rakena Robinson "who is doing some awesome work support whanau effected by suicide", and representatives from primary mental health organisation, REAL.
The Ngati Pikiao suicide prevention team was established in 2009, and has established training for whanau to access, and it supports whanau bereaved by suicide.
Next month it is running wananga to help rangatahi (youth) identify the signs and symptoms of suicide and what to do next.
"Te Runanga o Ngati Pikiao prides itself on being leaders in suicide prevention in our rohe of Te Waiariki and most importantly our community of Rotorua, and our surrounding districts," said Mr Mackey.
The Hikoi 4 Hope starts at The Village Green at 11am and ends at 1pm at City Focus. It includes live entertainment, guest speakers, face painting, balloons, spot prizes and suicide information stalls.
