Seven year old Sakurako Uehara from Japan was mauled by four dogs.
The owners of four dogs that attacked a 7-year-old in Murupara can be named.
Charlotte Boyt, 31, and Gareth Clive Boyt, 35, are charged with owning a dog which causes serious injury, an offence under Section 58 of the Dog Control Act. They appeared in the Rotorua District Court this
morning.
Sakurako Uehara was mauled by the Staffordshire bull terrier-cross dogs on March 3. She remains in a serious but stable condition in Middlemore Hospital.
The pair were supported by a large crowd in the public gallery and held hands throughout.
Following the attack, the dogs were put down.
Sakurako faces years of reconstructive surgery to repair extensive wounds to most of her body.
