Dog attack in Taupo

A woman has been injured in a dog attack in Taupo this morning.

Ambulance and police were alerted of the attack in Logan Ave, Wharewaka about 9.45am.

Ambulance northern communications centre team leader Norm Ngatai said the 40-year-old woman had suffered bites to both of her arms. She was taken to Taupo Hospital with minor injuries.

Mr Ngati said the dog appeared to be a rottweiler.

Police said the dog was destroyed at the scene.

This is the second dog attack in the Bay of Plenty region in the last two weeks after an 8-year-old and two adults were injured on a property in Koutu, Rotoura last Tuesday.
