A dance party for young people will have teenagers converging on the Energy Events Centre tomorrow night.

The Pro Fresh Winter Bash features a long line-up of DJs currently touring various towns.

This is the first time Pro Fresh, an event which usually attracts up to 600 people, has come to Rotorua. Numbers are growing year-on-year as youth spread the word, according to Pro Fresh director, Jaymz MacKenzie-Hooper.

Pro Fresh events specifically target young people under 18 and are drug and alcohol-free.

Mr MacKenzie-Hooper said he created Pro Fresh because there was a gap in the market for safe, youth-focused events.

"There are so many events that target adults, but when I was under 18 there was nothing. I'm 22 now and decided to specialise in youth events such as school balls and DJ gigs.

"We have professional security guards, work with the council, as well as police to make sure everyone stays safe and has a good time," he said.

" We are always trying to improve the events and have different themes. This year it is a winter bash with snow and fog machines.

"The aim is for youth to meet other teenagers from other schools in their home town, which they often don't get to do at their school ball."

Sets will be played by DJ FLY, STDJs, DJ ToneDef, DJ Sanka, DJ Doogle and more.

WHAT: Pro Fresh Winter Bash
WHERE: Energy Events Centre
WHEN: Friday 7pm -11pm
