The owner of a Rotorua dairy was hit with a golf club last night in an aggravated robbery.

Around 6.50pm two men entered the Sunset Super Seven dairy on Mount View Drive. They were armed with golf clubs and confronted the owner demanding money.

Police said the dairy owner was struck with a golf club during the confrontation and after making repeated demands the offenders ran off up Mount View Drive.

From there they ran through an alleyway to Sunset Rd and across into the Sunset Primary School. They ran to the back of the school grounds and out to Ford Rd by the Pullar Park Reserve.

Fortunately the owner was not seriously injured.
