Rees Uerata

Rotorua's Rees Uerata will represent the Northern Maori side playing two historic matches against Wellington Maori on Sunday.

Northern Districts have named a mix of youth and experience in the Northern Maori side to play Wellington Maori in two T20 matches in Taupo.

These are the country's first official domestic representative Maori fixtures.

Selectors have named 11 players in the Northern Maori team, including Uerata, who is of Tainui descent.

Local young Maori players will be included in the squad as 12th and 13th men as the team look to continue developing Maori cricket.

The teams will play two matches at Owen Delany Park at 11am and 2.30pm on Sunday.

Northern Maori will then meet Waikato University in an annual 40-over fixture at Seddon Park,n Hamilton, at 10.30am the following day, with a $100 prize is up for grabs to the first spectator to catch a six.
