Rotorua's two premier cricket teams will have to wait another week to get the monkey of their backs, after both losing in round three of the Baywide Cup.

Rotorua's Bayleys Central and BOP Indian Sports were both defeated on Saturday and remain winless this season.

Tauranga Boys' College proved too strong for Central in at home.

They posted 188/9, with Tim Clarke continuing his grand start to the current Baywide season to blast 92 runs, while Denym Clarke chipped in with a handy 27.

Graeme Whiles was in top form for Central with the ball, taking three wickets at a cost of 37 runs, while Jason Trembath and Ben Blackett both took two bowling scalps as Tauranga Boys' reached 188/9.

The visitors' reply stuttered along and they were eventually bowled out for 129, to give Tauranga Boys' a solid victory.

Ben Blackett's batting prowess was a beacon at one end as he top scored with a hard fought 61 runs.

Meanwhile, Te Puke easily accounted for Bay of Plenty Indian Sports at the Te Puke Domain, after bowling them out for 72.

Te Puke had to fight a little, losing four wickets on their way to victory. Indian Sports have had some real problems with their batting this season and will need to improve before they take on Central in the Rotorua derby this coming weekend.

In the other premier game at the weekend, Otumoetai Cadets beat Mount Maunganui in a close match, winning by 13 runs.

- Baywide Cup results on Saturday (round three):

Otumoetai Cadets 130 (Sean Davey 47, Scott Steward 25; Nick Smith 2/1, Tony Goodin 2/10, Dale Swan 2/31, Chris Atkinson 2/40) defeated Mount Maunganui 117 (Ben Musgrave 41no, Daniel Flynn 30; Lou Brook 3/23, Jono Boult 3/34).
