In a season plagued by wet weather, Rotorua/Taupo senior reserve grade cricketers were pleased to see the sun.

Geyser City John Paul College Old Boys, who had so far beaten their Western Heights High School counterparts in round one and won against Eastern Pirates by default, continued their winning ways against Bay of Plenty Indians on Saturday.

Geyser City JPC batted first and were all out for 143 on the back of 39 from L. Kelly and 24 from K. Hingston. The best of the BOP Indian bowlers were S. Chandra with 4/22 and S. Singh with 3/14. Kelly backed up his batting performance with four wickets for just eight runs to help hold the Indians to 108 all out. The top scorer for BOP Indians was Y. Patel with 23 runs.

Meanwhile, Geyser WHHS put up an admirable fight against Lake Taupo as they were all out for 172 runs. The top scorers were R. Downs (38) and P. Walters (31), while Lake Taupo bowler B. Roigard was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets for 32 runs. Lake Taupo chased down the target, for the loss of six wickets, on the back of 62 by L. Love-Parata and 20 by P. Davey. J O'Donoghue took three wickets for 19 runs for Geyser WHHS.

In the Taupo derby, Taupo Old Boys 2 scored 129 all out. The top scorer was S. Ashford (42) and Old Boys 1 bowler T. Attanayaka took five wickets for 23 runs.
