Rotorua's Geyser City Cricket Club have won their first game of the season in the Western Bay reserve grade.

Geyser, who made the shift to the Western Bay competition this season, defeated Whakatane United on Saturday. The Rotorua team blasted 242 and then bowled the Eastern Bay side out for 156 to claim a solid victory.

Meanwhile, Greerton have leapt to the top of the WBOPCA reserve grade standings after beating the Sikh XI in a high scoring encounter on Saturday.

The Greerton 2nd XI batted first at Pemberton Park and posted a solid target, 228, for the loss of eight wickets. The hosts then bowled their opponents out for 172, to take a 56-run win.

Katikati 207 (Colin Chase 121; Ruben Fitzgerald 4-50) defeated Aquinas College 87 (Fergus Lellman 37; Jamie Payton 5-14)
