The Baywide Twenty20 competition is wide open at the halfway stage, with Carrus Mount Maunganui, Element IMF Cadets, New World Te Puke and Eves Realty Greerton all posting three wins in the opening four rounds yesterday. Cadets bounced back from their defeat to Greerton last weekend, posting solid victories against Te Puke and Bayleys Central Indians. Otumoetai College student Tim Pringle played a big part in the removal of Te Puke for 103, taking three wickets at a cost of just 14 runs. Christian MacDonald top scored with 43 runs. Cadets got home with five wickets in hand as club stalwart Scott Steward led the way with a half-century.

Later in the afternoon Cadets wrapped up a successful trip to the T20 field day at Boord Park in Rotorua, when they defeated Central Indians. The Rotorua side were dismissed for 123, before Bay of Plenty representative batsman Sean Davey led his team to victory with 49.

Mount Maunganui also picked up back-to-back wins. In their first assignment they made quick work of dispatching premier newcomers GM Painters Lake Taupo CC, bowling them out for 57 and cruising to victory in just seven overs without losing a wicket.

Individual Mount Maunganui honours belonged to captain Dale Swan who grabbed four wickets, Peter Drysdale (29no) and Logan Carr (22no) who took their side home to victory.

Second up, Mount Maunganui batted first against Cooney Lees Morgan Tauranga Boys' College and posted a solid 142/5, with Peter Drysdale and Ben Guild each scoring 39 runs.

Finn Sears bowled well for the Tauranga students returning 3/24. While Tauranga Boys' made a solid pursuit of victory, they were eventually restricted to 123/5 to give the Mount side two wins on the day.

Greerton had a good battle with Tauranga Boys' College, chasing down 142 for the loss of four wickets. Individual stars were Tauranga Boys' Marcel Collett with a half-century and Brett Hampton who hammered an unbeaten 86 for Greerton.

Te Puke won the late afternoon clash against Greerton hunting down 121/7 for the loss of five wickets. Skipper Stephen Crossan, who was let off the hook by the Greerton fielders on a couple of occasions, top scored with a hard fought 59.
