Emergency services attended a crash involving two trucks on State Highway 1 at Atiamuri yesterday afternoon.

The crash happened shortly after 1pm on the bridge over the Waikato River between trucks travelling in the opposite direction, Bay of Plenty police communications manager Kim Perks said.

"One logging truck has shed some of its load of logs and one tanker has shed some of its load of stock feed."

She said St John ambulance medics attended the scene and some of the stock feed went into the river.

A Rotorua Daily Post photographer at the scene said logs were strewn across the road and one of the trucks had a smashed windscreen.
