The Crankworx World Tour returns to Rotorua this March with early bird tickets on sale today, timed to coincide with the announcement of the 2016 Crankworx World Tour new locations and dates.

Event director Tak Mutu said Crankworx offered a chance to see the best mountain bikers in the world
right here in New Zealand.

He said he was pumped to be bringing the festival back to his hometown for its second year, allowing kiwis to ride, compete and party with the heroes of the cycling world.

"This is the greatest riding spectacle in the world and one of the few chances to meet the biggest names in mountain biking.

"It really is five days of pure entertainment with the flips, tricks, and some of the fastest people in the world on two wheels competing in the adventure Mecca that is Rotorua."

Based at Skyline Rotorua Gravity Park, Elevate Course Building has constructed a slopestyle course the riders describe as the epitome of what a freestyle course should be, and athletes from every discipline say they're looking forward to returning to Rotorua, the bike park and the world-renown Whakarewarewa Forest trail network.

"Being able to build the first Crankworx Rotorua slopestyle course was a huge honour for myself and my building partner Tom Hey," New Zealand's number one slopestyle athlete and Elevate Course Building co-owner Kelly McGarry said.

"We're looking forward to seeing where the athletes take their performance now that they've got a year of competing on these jumps under their belts."

The festival brings with it New Zealand's biggest mountain bike expo, as well as fleets of demo bikes for festival-goers to try, live music and a full line-up of Kidsworx events.

Crankworx general manager Darren Kinnaird said the inaugural Crankworx Rotorua was brilliant.

"From the venue to the fans to the pure wonder of New Zealand's forests, Rotorua proved itself the perfect location for the first stop of the Crankworx World Tour and we're thrilled to be returning even earlier this year."

Early bird tickets are only available online and can be bought through crankworx.com.

Early Bird pricing:
· Multi-Day Adult: $69NZD five-day pass
· Multi-Day Child (5-14 years): $49 five-day pass
· One-day pass adult: $40
· One-day child pass: $30
