"We know this is an event that New Zealand will fall in love with but we needed a way to hook them up. This takes music from artists we know locals love and we're integrating it with what's happening at Skyline."
A big screen will feature pre-recorded and live action. Mr Tibble said families should pack a picnic and take a blanket along to relax and soak up the atmosphere.
Among the artists on stage will be The Black Seeds, P-Money, Savage, and Jamie McDell. Also included in the line-up are The Peacekeepers, featuring Shapeshifter frontman P Digsss, ManaLion and Auckland soul-powered funk band Hipstamatics, plus local favourites Strangely Arousing and Open Arms.
There will also be prize-givings, food stalls and carnival rides.
"People don't have to go through the hustle and bustle of being at Skyline. We'd love for them to be there so kids can rub shoulders with the stars of the sport but the challenge is giving other people an appreciation of that."
The Crankworx Rotorua DH (downhill) and Giant Toa Enduro Rotorua prize-givings will also take place at the Village Green during the festival line-up.
This is an alcohol-free event.
