A top New Zealand music line-up has been announced for the Crankworx Rotorua Bikes and Beats music festival on March 27 and 28.
Headline acts for the free festival include The Black Seeds, P-Money, Savage, and Jamie McDell. Also included in the line-up are The Peacekeepers, featuring Shapeshifter frontman PDigsss, ManaLion and Auckland soul powered funk band Hipstamatics, plus local up-and-comers Strangely Arousing and Open Arms.
Jamie McDell's performance at the Crankworx festival coincides with the launch of her second album, Ask Me Anything. Jamie has also been nominated alongside Lorde in the popular Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in Los Angeles on March 28. The pop stars have been named in the Aussie/Kiwi Favourite Music Act category.
The free Bikes and Beats festival will take place at Rotorua's Lakefront Village Green on Friday March 27 and Saturday March 28 and also features live-screen action of the Crankworx events, prizegivings, food stalls, carnival rides and much more.
Entertainment kicks off from 3pm on Friday and from 4pm on Saturday.
The Black Seeds vocalist and guitarist, Barnaby Weir, said the band was pumped to be playing in Rotorua as part of the festival.
"We are super excited to be part of the inaugural Crankworx Rotorua event, we are blown away by the talent and skill these bikers have and look forward to entertaining them after their hard days' work.
"It's our first show in Rotorua in over two years."
Crankworx Rotorua director Tak Mutu said the Bikes and Beats music festival topped off the epic line-up of the week-long Crankworx festival.
"Not only do we have the world's greatest mountain bikers competing on Rotorua's dirt gold, but they'll also get a taste of New Zealand's top music.
"None of these bands have ever played a free gig in Rotorua before, so this is an awesome opportunity for Kiwis to get along for nothing to see them live, lakeside."
Spectators at the Village Green will also get to rub shoulders with some of the stars of the international mountain biking scene, at both the Crankworx Rotorua DH (downhill) and Giant Toa Enduro Rotorua prizegiving which will also take place at the Village Green during the festival line-up.
The festival schedule can be found in the attached poster and on the Crankworx website: http://www.crankworx.com/rotorua/entertainment/. It is an alcohol-free event.
