According to this morning's Herald (Thomas Coughlan article), NZ's vaccination rate is equivalent to that of Romania, Albania and Bolivia. We have truly joined the ranks of
the third world.

The fault for this outbreak and lockdown now lies squarely at the door of the Prime Minister, her government and the Ministry of Health.

There should surely be more pop-up testing stations in place, to avoid people feeling frustrated and giving up on the idea of being tested. Given we have done all of this in the past, testing stations should just spring into action to ensure the public can quickly and efficiently be tested. Very flat-footed!

Why does it take four hours to tell us the numbers? The director of health gets these at 9am and we don't hear these until 1pm???

Let's keep a sense of perspective. In the community since at least 16 days ago. How many hospitalisations have there been in that time? How many people have presented with symptoms? Just that one Devonport man to date. Focus on ICU admissions, not raw numbers. My 8-year-old niece in the UK was found to have Delta but had absolutely no symptoms or ill effects.

Closing down the casino will be a winner for many. Maybe keep it closed along with pub pokies. There just may be more food on the table at some homes as a result.

It's pathetic that we have not insisted that all border workers are vaccinated. All police, all emergency services. Stop pandering and empathising and start leading
