Baywide Secondary Schools Rugby:
Bay of Plenty Secondary Schools rugby will continue as normal this weekend, however, as per the Ministry of Education guidelines, there are no spectators, unless schools have a system to manage crowds of no more than 100 (including players) and team lists are collected for contact tracing.
Please refer to your child's school for clarification on whether they are able to have (max of 100) spectators or not.
Parents will have to drop off their children at the gates and return to their cars until the completion of the match. All coaches and managers are responsible for executing contact tracing and hygiene protocols.
Senior Club Rugby:
There are twelve senior clubs right across the Bay of Plenty region that are scheduled to host matches this weekend and all have advised that they are well prepared to follow their Covid-19 Safety Plans with regards to hosting home games under alert level 2 restrictions.
With the Western Bay Sub Union competition in the semi-final stage, Tauranga Sports are still scheduled to host both a Premier Mens (Rangiuru) and Development Mens (Te Puna) semi-final at the Tauranga Domain.
Te Puke Sports are still scheduled to host Te Puna in the other Premier men's semi-final at Murray Salt Stadium, with Rangataua scheduled to host the remaining Development Mens final (Judea) and the Toi Ohomai Baywide Womens Final (Rangiuru) at Ariki Park Maungatapu.
Some finer details need to be worked through to enable the venues hosting more than one match to be able to keep within the 100-person mass gathering restrictions.
Individual hosts will be responsible for the way in which they manage their venues, but they can't do it alone.
Everyone has a part to play in ensuring these games this weekend go off without a hitch, the union said.
Hockey
Covid 19 Update
In a Facebook post, the Rotorua Hockey said: "Due to circumstances beyond our control and the commiment to keep our community safe the Rotorua Hockey grounds will remain closed until Monday, August 17.
"This means that all junior hockey, trainings and turf bookings are cancelled until that date. This will be reviewed on Monday and further updates will be made available.
"In light of the currenta alert level and announcements from the government then our position will be as follows:
"In the event we return to alert level one then the turfs will reopen immediately from Monday with contact tracing requirements. In the event we go to level three then the turfs will remain closed. If we remain at level two then we will be operating under level two safety plans and we will advise these in more detail.
Intercity Competition 2020
At this stage as the matches and teams involved are spread across Covid L2 and L3 areas, consideration needs to be given to how our competition may proceed.
We will advise by Midday Friday August 14 2020 whether matches can proceed or not on Saturday August 15.
Rugby League
This weekend's Bay of Plenty senior men's rugby league has been cacelled.
All teams were set to play in Pāpāmoa on Saturday but Bay of Plenty District League said on Facebook: "After this most recent announcement re the Tokoroa positive Covid cases, I confirm this weekends men's round in Pāpāmoa is to be postponed.
"We can not risk the health and safety of our whānau and waiting till 5.30pm today is not going to change this decision I believe.
"Stay safe whānau, happy to answer any questions but at this stage our comp will be on hold pending clearance from NZ Health Board."
Sunday's Women's Festival in Tauranga has also been postponed.
In a Facebook post Upper Central Zone Rugby League said: "In light of the new case in south Waikato and the uncertain climate of Rotorua this decision was not made lightly but is a decision thats made out of duty of care for our members and wider community throughout the districts.
"Regardless of what the Government announces today the Women's Festival will remain postponed this weekend until we can get more clarity on transmission throughout our region.
"We ask you to remain vigilant with all covid protocols and adhere to the directions from our health professionals."
Football
As advised yesterday, with the move to Alert Level 2, football is able to go ahead under the Alert Level 2 Guidelines.

Rotorua Netball
Netball Rotorua have made the decision to postpone Intermediate and Senior Netball on Saturday 15 August
Also postponed Mother Earth Future Ferns on Monday 17 August - Yr 1 to Yr 4 and Tuesday 18 August - Yr 5&6 Netball.
All Clubs, Teams, Schools & Umpires will be advised of further developments for the remainder of the season once we receive a directive from Netball NZ and the Ministry of Health.
