Unison contractors worked all through the night to restore power to more than 1500 customers after a car crashed into a power pole outside Rotorua Airport.
A section of Te Ngae Rd was closed for significant period of time last night after emergency services were called to the crash sceneabout 5.50pm.
A St John spokeswoman said no one was believed to be hurt in the crash.
Unison spokesman Danny Gough said the crash extensively damaged a "very busy" power pole.
"The guys were working right through the night to get power restored. The last of the customers were back on about 7am.
"It was a double circuit high voltage line along with low voltage lines below so it was a very busy pole from our perspective," Gough said.
A total of 1535 customers were affected by the outage with contractors working progressively through the night to restore power.
Areas in the immediate area of the crash took the longest to have power restored because contractors couldn't divert from other parts of the network, Gough said.
