More and more locals are getting into giving this Christmas, including Red Stag Timber staff who are working together to help feed those in need.
Earlier this month the Rotorua Daily Post launched its Christmas Appeal with this year's recipient being the Salvation Army Foodbank.
Paul Laing, commercial manager at Red Stag Timber, saw the Rotorua Daily Post Christmas Appeal the day it launched in the paper and decided it would be good for the team at Red Stag to join in.
"It's good for us from a team building aspect, we got together and thought why not?"
Mr Laing said Red Stag decided to run an appeal and sent flyers to its 350 contractors letting them know to bring non-perishable food in to the company's reception.
Mr Laing said the company had done an appeal before, but it had been a few years and it was about time it did another one.
"It's Christmas, which makes it a bit difficult, but our guys know people who struggle around this time so they are keen to help," Mr Laing said.
-If your school, club or workplace is planning a fundraising event for the Christmas Appeal we would love to hear about it.
