When a helicopter landed at Lynmore Primary School, pupils were ready with their iPads to capture the event.

The primary school showed its support for the BayTrust Rescue Helicopter today by dressing in red - the colour of the Westpac bank, the rescue helicopter's main sponsor - for its mufti day.

Each pupil brought a gold coin for the chopper service.

They were treated to a visit from a helicopter as thanks and the kids had their iPads ready to record the moment.

"It was fantastic that I could take some photos to show my mum," said 8-year-old Ethan Wolland.

Lucas Judd and Bellah Birchall, both 8, also took footage. They described the helicopter as "cool" and Bellah said her favourite part was when it landed on the field.

Pilot Ben Fry said he was happy to give back to the school for supporting them by letting the children see a helicopter first-hand.

"We can't do the role of a helicopter for the community without the support of the community as well," Mr Fry said.

"To help reinforce the mufti day the school was putting on, because the proceeds are coming to the rescue helicopter, we suggested that we come along and let the kids have a look."

After the landing, pupils were invited up to the helicopter to get a better view and learn more about it from Mr Fry.

Westpac bank manager Ian Baker hitched a ride on the helicopter to also come and say thanks for the school's donation.

"It was great to see the sea of red and the excitement when we arrived," Mr Baker said.
Mr Baker gave out spot prizes to pupils while they waited in line to see the helicopter.
