Local car enthusiasts are in for a treat this weekend when dozens of vintage vehicles, from Cadillacs to Mustangs, go on show.

Thousands of people are expected to turn out to the Rotorua Vintage and Veteran Car Club Swap Meet and Car Show, held at the Paradise Valley Raceway on Sunday.

The annual event, which has been running for more than 30 years, will feature vintage, veteran, classic and collectable cars, motorcycles, hot rods, memorabilia, model cars and trains and more.

Event co-ordinator Roger Nelson said about 100 cars, some which date back over 100 years, will feature in the show.

He said the event would be an opportunity for "petrol heads" and their families to have a fun day out.

"It's really for people who have any kind of interest in cars, especially older cars," he said.

But, Mr Nelson said it wasn't limited to car junkies.

"It's also something different for people who might not have seen these types of cars before."

Mr Nelson said it was also a chance for car owners across the country to buy, sell, and swap car parts.

Dozens of market stalls will also feature, selling all kinds of goods, food and drink.

Organisers expected about 4000 people to turn up to the event, as it had always proven popular in the past.

"Just come along and enjoy what is one of the biggest car swaps and meets in the country," Mr Nelson said.
