Close to 1000 people in Fordlands are without power after a car crashed into a power pole.

A police media spokeswoman said the crash happened on Ford Rd around 11.40am and there were no injuries.

However, an ambulance was called as it appeared the driver was taking a child to the hospital, she said.

Unison have been alerted to the outages and are working to have all customers' power restored by 5.15pm.
