Car rolls and person serious injured after crash on State Highway 30 near Kawerau, Bay of Plenty

Two people were taken to hospital after a crash near Kawerau this morning.

Police were called to a two-car crash around 5.35am, near the intersection of State Highway 30 and Kawerau Rd.

A spokesman said one vehicle was on its side and blocking the road.

A St John media spokeswoman said two ambulances responded to the scene and took two people to Whakatāne Hospital.

One person was in a serious condition and the other in a moderate condition.
