The driver of a vehicle has been rescued after their car ran off the road and plunged into a Rotorua hot pool.

A driver has been rescued after a car drove into a boiling hot pool in Rotorua.

Police said they responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Ranolf St near Arawa St, shortly before 2.20pm.

“It appears this may have happened as a result of a medical event. The car crashed through a fence into a hot pool.

“The sole occupant of the vehicle was rescued with no injuries reported.”

St John said they were notified after 2pm and responded with one ambulance and one rapid response vehicle.

“We have assessed and treated one patient who was transported to Rotorua Hospital in a moderate condition.”
