Boy, 10, flown to hospital after fall from bike

A young boy has been flown to hospital after fracturing his left femur in a fall.

The BayTrust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Kurutau, on the southwest edge of Lake Taupo, at 4.30pm yesterday to help the injured 10-year-old.

The boy was riding his dirt bike at an event, when he fell from his bike, fracturing his left femur.

He was stablised by the on-site paramedics, before being flown to Rotorua Hospital for further treatment.
