Rotorua, get ready to rock 'n roll.

Tomorrow American singer Bill Haley Jr will take to the stage to perform with his band The Comets at the Rotorua Energy Events Centre.

The show will form part of Haley Jr's 13-city tour of New Zealand.

The singer is the son of the late Bill Haley, a rock and roll musician who gained huge popularity in the 1950s.

He was know for hits such as Rock Around the Clock, See You Later, Alligator and Razzle Dazzle. Haley sold over 25 million records worldwide.

Now his son is following his legendary father into the music business.

As part of the show, as well as performing his dad's hits, he will also tells stories of his father.

The show was expected to be more of a a rock and roll history show than a tribute band performance.

Haley Jr will be performing alongside his four-piece band of Comets, who are Bobby Michaels on saxophone, percussion and keyboard, Mike Denaro on electric guitar, Christopher Davis Shannon on bass and drummer Rich Flamini.
