BayTrust will now have a greater presence in Rotorua after opening a new satellite office in the city making it easier for local organisations to find out about funding and support.

BayTrust said today that Rotorua Trust had provided it with office space in its Eruera St headquarters and both
organisations said they were looking forward to working side by side in future.

BayTrust chief executive Alastair Rhodes said Rotorua was located in the heart of BayTrust's funding region which extended right across coastal Bay of Plenty and south to Taupo and Turangi.

"It's important to have a physical presence in Rotorua so it's easier for people to see us face-to-face to discuss their needs and ways in which we can help support them to succeed," he said.

"We believe this new office will allow us to work closer with Rotorua Trust, Rotorua residents, and the surrounding communities to help achieve our vision of ensuring the 'Bay of Plenty is the greatest place to be'.

Last year BayTrust granted $4.3m to community groups and projects, many of which directly benefited Rotorua residents.

The new office will be manned by BayTrust staff on either Wednesdays or Thursdays and people are encouraged to call 0800 654 546 or email info@baytrust for an appointment.

BayTrust and Rotorua Trust had a long history of collaborating together on key projects and BayTrust used the Eruera St facilities for local meetings in the past.

Rotorua Trust manager Tony Gill said it would be great to have one central location for residents to visit when exploring funding options.

"Our two organisations often liaise together and we had some spare office space available, so it just made sense.

"It will allow BayTrust staff to spend more time here in Rotorua which will clearly be good for our local community," he said.

"The more they're here, the more opportunities people will have to engage with them and benefit from their advice and support."
