More than $280,000 in funding has been awarded to 25 community organisations around the Bay of Plenty.

The grants are given by the NZ Community Trust, which gets its funding from gaming venues.

Community organisations can apply to the trust for grants.

Bay of Plenty organisations
• All Saints by the
Sea Parish, $20,000 towards re-fixing of wooden tongue and groove boards (sarking) in church ceiling

• Alzheimer's Society Tauranga, $4000 towards salary of Volunteer Coordinator

• Aquinas College, $4000 towards travel and accommodation for water polo championships

• Bay of Plenty Cricket Association, $50,000 towards salary of Cricket Manager, Women's Development Officer, tournament fees and umpire fees from 24 October 2018

• Lynmore Tennis Club, $7,500 towards junior coaching

• Marist Rugby and Sports Club Whakatane, $10,716.27 towards bus travel from February 2019, first aid kits, rugby and netball uniforms and equipment, and sideline jackets

• Mount Festival Charitable Trust, $15,060 towards volunteer services for Mount Festival Multisport Event in Tauranga

• Mount Maunganui Cricket Club, $4960 towards cricket balls

• New Zealand Response Team Trust, $15,944.96 towards rescue equipment for Tauranga

• Sikh Sangat NZ Trust, $20,000 towards CCTV camera installation and men's toilets renovation for Sikh temple in Rotorua

• Tahatai Coast School, $10,000, towards sports playing uniforms

• Tauranga Croquet Club, $2426.11 towards fungicides and fertilisers for lawn maintenance

• Tauranga Jazz Society, $10,228 towards security costs for 2019 National Jazz Festival in Tauranga

• Tauranga Moana Outrigger Canoe Club, $10,000 towards a waka ama and accessories

• Tauranga Synchronised Swimming Club, $2400 towards coaching from 23 October 2018

• Tauranga Youth Development Team – Voice of Youth Development, $5000 towards salaries of administrator, projects assistant and general manager

• Te Kura O Te Paroa, $15,000 towards piupiu for senior kapa haka group

• Tennis Western BOP, $13,000 towards salary of regional manager

• Welcome Bay Playcentre, $2810 towards a shade sail for sandpit

• Western Heights High School Rotorua, $10,434.79 towards costs associated with Hillary Outdoor Education Programme

• Youth Encounter Ministries Trust, $3000 towards competitor uniforms

Total $284,488.59
