Rotorua ballet fans can expect to be dazzled when the Royal New Zealand Ballet visit with their performance of A Mid Summer Night's Dream next week.
Tickets are nearly selling out for the September 10 event at the Civic Theatre, Events and Venues general manager Peter McLeod said.
He saidthe performances from the Royal New Zealand Ballet were always popular.
"We have got about 150 [tickets] left to sell. In the last week we sold 148, so with that amount we would expect it to sell out. We normally get close to the sell-out mark, and we've had the Russian ballet here earlier this month, so were not sure how much it would sell."
Royal New Zealand Ballet media and communications manager Andrea Tandy said the show was receiving rave reviews from its performances in Wellington.
"This one is wowing audiences all over. The last time we were in Rotorua was with Coppelia last May and tickets are selling really well in Rotorua. It will either sell out or be very close to selling out, so people need to jump in and get their tickets so they don't miss out."
She said the production was classic and ethereal "with thousands of lights creating a magical forest where fairies dwell in the moonlight". It was the largest set ever created by the Royal New Zealand Ballet.
"Four thousand LED lights and more than 2000 metres of fibre-optic cable will transform the Civic Theatre stage into a glittering fairy world, transporting audiences into one of Shakespeare's greatest love stories."
-The Rotorua Daily Post has a family pass of four tickets to give away to the show. To enter, email readers@dailypost.co.nz with "ballet" in the subject line and your daytime contact details. Entries close next Tuesday.
