Remember the name Jordi Webber - if he has his way, it will be up in lights one day.
The Rotorua teenager is the first recipient of the Geyser Community Foundation's Grumitt Sisters Fund, which provides an annual scholarship for a Rotorua Boys' High School student to help them with speech
and drama.
This is the first year the foundation has made an award from the fund.
Jordi, 15, played a lead role as one of the T-Birds in this year's Rotorua Boys' High School and Rotorua Girls' High School production of Grease and has a love for performing.
As part of Jordi's scholarship he gets $1000 to go towards helping him with studies.
He plans to spend $750 of that money to attend the eight-day National Youth Drama School in Hawke's Bay next April. The rest of the money will go towards singing lessons.
Jordi was glad to have scooped the award and hoped it would help him to secure the lead role in next year's production of The Wedding Singer.
"I feel great, I was really surprised," Jordi said.
He has also taken part in theatresports and won this year's senior speech contest at his school.
Jordi would love to work as an actor when he leaves school and is ultimately aiming to make his mark in Hollywood by the time he reaches his early 20s.
Until then, the young performer hopes to work in television in New Zealand - maybe as an actor on Shortland St, he said.
Geyser Community Foundation executive officer Bill Cleghorn said Jordi was a worthy recipient of the scholarship because of his talents.
"The foundation will be watching Jordi's future career with interest," Mr Cleghorn said.
