Police are looking for a 94-year-old Auckland man who has gone missing after setting out on a drive to Taupo today.
A relative told police the elderly man had planned to travel to Taupo after leaving his home in Hillsborough this morning, but never arrived at his destination. The 270kmtrip should have taken about 3.5 hours.
He was driving a white Holden Vectra, registration number ALM839.
Although the man had not arrived in Taupo police said they had received one reported sighting in Matamata earlier today.
Members of the public who spot the car should call 111 immediately, police said. They also want to hear from anyone who may have seen his car earlier.
