A person has been injured after their car went down a bank off State Highway 5 in Tapapa.

Police were called to the scene on Tapapa Rd about 8.45am, a police spokeswoman said.

Emergency services worked quickly to remove one person trapped in the car, she said.

They escaped with moderate injuries and the road was not blocked, she said.
