With New Zealand now in alert level 4 lockdown, non-essential workers are now self-isolating at home, which is having a profound effect on Rotorua roads like Fenton St which is almost always bustling with cars now completely deserted.
The only people on the road are those headed out to getsupplies, or essential workers in the trade or delivery industry.
Driving through Rotorua leaves an eerie feeling, locations that were once tourist hot spots are now barren.
Police are present throughout the town, monitoring the situation and ensuring the public are following lockdown procedures.
It's a new normal that Rotorua, like many cities in New Zealand, will need to adjust to.
