State Highway 2 near Whakatāne reopens after crash

Both lanes of Matata Rd on State Highway 2 were blocked for nearly two hours this morning after a ute rolled.

A police spokeswoman said the single-car crash happened on Matata Rd between Sutherland and Caverhill Rds about 5am today.

Initially, the crash was blocking both lanes, however, one lane was reopened around 6.50am.

There were no injuries, she said.
