One person is in hospital with serious injuries after an assault in Taupō.

Emergency services responded to the incident on Kaimanawa St just after 7pm on Monday evening, a police spokeswoman said.

A person with serious injuries has been taken to hospital.

Inquiries into the assault are ongoing, the spokeswoman said.
